X. Print and The Reformation in the 16th Century.
What is The Reformation?
It was a part of the Renaissance.
In short, The Reformation (also known as the Protestant Reformation) was the rupture from a Roman Catholic Church caused by Martin Luther and continued by several people. During the middle ages, not many people were literate. It was around this time during the Reformation that printing press was invented and allowed new ideas to be made as well as more scriptures of the Bible to be distributed. This allowed more people to read the Bible for the very first time.
It was because of Johannes Gutenberg that he invented printing press which somehow justified or resolved the issues during the Reformation. As the Reformation was about the questioning of practices that was offensive to the Catholic Church.
Print has brought a large impact to this time period as Johannes' invention of 'Printing Press' allowed at least a thousand pages printed in a short time compared to the old method which only enabled about 40 to 50 prints at a time.
